Day in Dots — Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 16, 2026

The short version

Day in Dots is a personal productivity app. Your data is yours. By default everything stays on your device. If you choose to sign in, your to-dos and productivity data are stored in your private cloud account so they can sync across your devices. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

What the app stores on your device

  • Your to-dos, plans, logged activities, focus sessions, and productivity history.
  • Calendar events you choose to show — read from your device calendar to display on the timeline. Edits you make in Day in Dots stay local; we never write back to your calendar.
  • Screen Time / app-usage signals you opt into, used only to show your own usage and to power Focus Mode app blocking. This data stays on your device and is handled by Apple's Family Controls framework.

If you create an account (optional)

Signing in is optional and done with Sign in with Apple. When you sign in:

  • An account is created using the identifier Apple provides. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address.
  • Your to-dos and productivity data are stored in a private, access-controlled database (hosted on Supabase) tied to your account, so they can sync to your other devices.
  • Only you can read or write your data — access is enforced per account at the database level.

If you stay signed out, none of this applies and the app remains entirely on-device.

Connecting AI assistants (optional)

You can connect an AI assistant (such as a ChatGPT custom GPT) to add to-dos to your account. If you do, you sign in with Apple to authorize it, and the assistant can then create to-do items in your account on your behalf. It cannot read your other data. You can disconnect this access at any time.

Take Action — browser extension & iPhone shortcut (optional)

“Take Action” turns text you highlight into a to-do list — available both as a Day in Dots Chrome extension and as an iPhone Shortcut. Either way, it only ever uses the text you explicitly highlight or share, and only when you choose “Take Action” — it does not read your pages, screen, or other content in the background.

When you use Take Action, that text is sent to our server and passed to an AI provider (such as Google's Gemini API or Moonshot AI) solely to convert it into a to-do list. We don't store the text after the request completes.

To-dos you choose to add are then saved like any other to-do — on your device, and to your account if you're signed in.

Subscriptions & payments (optional)

Day in Dots offers optional paid subscriptions. Purchases are made through Apple's App Store, so Apple handles the payment — we never see or store your card details. To confirm whether your subscription is active and unlock the right features, we use a subscription provider (RevenueCat), which receives your purchase details together with your account identifier. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you manage or cancel them in your Apple ID settings.

What we do NOT do

  • We do not sell or rent your personal data.
  • We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.
  • We do not share your calendar or Screen Time data with anyone; it never leaves your device.

Deleting your data

You can delete to-dos and data in the app at any time. If you have an account, deleting your account removes your synced data from the cloud. Uninstalling the app removes all on-device data.
