Signing in is optional and done with Sign in with Apple. When you sign in:
If you stay signed out, none of this applies and the app remains entirely on-device.
You can connect an AI assistant (such as a ChatGPT custom GPT) to add to-dos to your account. If you do, you sign in with Apple to authorize it, and the assistant can then create to-do items in your account on your behalf. It cannot read your other data. You can disconnect this access at any time.
“Take Action” turns text you highlight into a to-do list — available both as a Day in Dots Chrome extension and as an iPhone Shortcut. Either way, it only ever uses the text you explicitly highlight or share, and only when you choose “Take Action” — it does not read your pages, screen, or other content in the background.
When you use Take Action, that text is sent to our server and passed to an AI provider (such as Google's Gemini API or Moonshot AI) solely to convert it into a to-do list. We don't store the text after the request completes.
To-dos you choose to add are then saved like any other to-do — on your device, and to your account if you're signed in.
Day in Dots offers optional paid subscriptions. Purchases are made through Apple's App Store, so Apple handles the payment — we never see or store your card details. To confirm whether your subscription is active and unlock the right features, we use a subscription provider (RevenueCat), which receives your purchase details together with your account identifier. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you manage or cancel them in your Apple ID settings.
You can delete to-dos and data in the app at any time. If you have an account, deleting your account removes your synced data from the cloud. Uninstalling the app removes all on-device data.
